IPL 2019: Former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi recently expressed his thoughts on Rajasthan Royals’ spin sensation Shreyas Gopal. He felt that the 25-year-old has been extremely impressive. The Karnataka-born recently bagged three important wickets for 12 runs in his quota of four overs against a dominant RCB batting unit. The spinner was adjudicated the Man of the Match for his splendid show with the ball. Big fish Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers also featured in his three scalps. Lalit Modi took to his social media platform to hail the performance of spinners in the league. He also expressed his concern over a star-studded RCB franchise, as he could not figure out why they are yet to win a match after four games. “Great to see bowlers excel in @iplt20 Amazing spin bowling by #shreyasgopal for @rajasthanroyals – Struggling to understand @rcbtweets slide #cricket #ipl #indianpremierleague,” his post read.
“I still say I’m fortunate and lucky to get such big wickets. As a youngster, it’s not going to come everyday and it’s one of my biggest moments. I was more fortunate and our plans worked today. We created a lot of pressure in the first 6 overs. They didn’t get 65-70. They had to make runs off me, I had better chance of taking wickets. Just goes on gut feeling, nothing planned as such. It’s good to have few different balls up your sleeve and be able to execute. We (wrist spinners) get to spin the ball both sides and that’s probably an advantage. It’s about bowling better areas and sticking to plans,” said Gopal at the post-match presentation.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan won the encounter in their backyard and once again gave a glimpse of how strong they are at home.
