IPL 2019: Young sensation Shubman Gill may have powered Kolkata Knight Riders to a much-needed win over Kings XI Punjab, but it was his daddy to stole the show. Local boy Shubman’s parents had turned up at Mohali to watch their son play and he did not disappoint as he carried his bat through as KKR beat KXIP by seven wickets. Shubman scored 65* off 49 balls but it was his father in the stands to danced away to glory as his son batted as a man possessed. His father’s bhangra in the stands also caught the attention of KKR team owner Shah Rukh Khan who later posted on Twitter with a mention of Gill’s dad. Also Read - BCCI's Double Standards Exposed? Shah Rukh Khan’s post after the KKR win:
“It feels great, my first MoM at my home ground. Can’t get better than this. It was important to build partnership. I was striking it at 80-100 but the run-rate was still going around 9-10, so that’s when I decided I had to stay in there. Even some relatives from my village came to watch so it’s great to play in front of everyone. We have one more match to go, and it would be very nice if we can win that and make it into the play-offs,” said Gill as he bagged the Man of the match.
KKR will now play Mumbai Indian at the Wankhede Stadium in their last league match. The match is important from KKR’s point of view because only a win can see them through.
