IPL 2019: MS Dhoni may not have been able to take CSK over the line against the RCB, but Pant did an ‘MS Dhoni’ as he took Capitals to the top of the points table. Part of the leadership management of Delhi Capitals, Sourav Ganguly hailed Rishabh Pant for his match-winning knock that helped them beat the Royals by six wickets. Pant scored a breathtaking 78 off 36 balls to take Delhi over the line in a 192 chase. His innings was laced with four sixes and six fours. During his innings, Pant showed that he loves these situations where he can go for it early. Ganguly looked in awe of his innings and hence he took to Twitter to lavish praise for the young turk. Ganguly picked him up on his lap just like he did pick up Kaif in 2002 when he helped India win the Natwest series. His post read, “Rishabh pant ⁦@RishabPant777⁩ ⁦@ParthJindal11⁩ u deserve this .. u r wow.”

There were no surprises as Pant bagged the Man of the match award. “I am feeling lovely. To make your team win in an important match is a good feeling. I won’t lie, the selection thought was running in my mind. I focussed on my process, I trusted my prowess and it worked for me. I knew how wicket was behaving and I took advantage of that. The most important things for our team is that everyone needs their role and we try to keep it simple,” he said at the post-match presentation.

With the win, Delhi has gone top of the points table.
