Opening With Rohit: Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are arguably the best opening pair ever for India in white-ball cricket. They have played a lot with each other and that of course, would be a massive advantage. What makes the choice wise is the fact that Dhawan is a left-hander.

Immense Experience: Experience is irreplaceable and that is exactly what Shikhar Dhawan brings to the table. He has featured in 192 IPL games and amassed 5784 runs. He may be 36, but he still has cricket left in him.

Good form: The left-hander, who is now in South Africa for the limited-overs series, has been in good form. In the first ODI, Dhawan hit 79 and at a brisk pace. In the second ODI as well, he got a start but was dismissed for 29. In 2021 IPL, he hit 587 runs in 16 matches.
