New Delhi: The popularity of the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will grow with the addition of two new teams which are expected to add to the popularity of the competition. But before that happens, franchises have an important task of retaining the list of players they want to keep.

Selecting a handful of cricket players from a large pool is not an easy task. Before the mega auction, there are few players from the international arena that can fetch a fortune for themselves at the mega auction. The following players have been an integral part of the squad for a reasonable period of time.

Shreyas Iyer: Iyer has the experience of leading Delhi in the past. This is precisely why different franchises are leaving no stone unturned to get a player of that caliber.

Suresh Raina: Raina is famously known as Mr. IPL. The franchise might look for experienced players for their side and Raina could do the job really well.

Hardik Pandya:  Unlike 2017, it is unlikely that he will be a certain in the retention list of Mumbai Indians and if he enters the auction, he will be on the list of many other teams who might break the bank for him.

David Warner: Warner was adjudged as “Player of the tournament” in the recently concluded T20 world cup. Warner, with his outstanding performance, can be picked at the mega auction at a high price.

Shikhar Dhawan: Dhawan was one of the top scorers in previous two editions of the IPL. With form on his side, ‘Gabbar’ will surely make the cut in any team.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman: With exceptional performance in the T20 World Cup, Mujeeb will be a key buy in the mega auctions.

Faf du Plessis: The former South African skipper ended second on the list of top scorers. Franchises might look for a potential captain in him

Shardul Thakur: Fast bowling all rounder who can hit a long ball are a necessity in T20I’s. Thakur who made key contributions for India in the last few months can surely be a valuable addition.

Suryakumar Yadav: SKY, an out and out match winner for MI, is another player expected to go for big bucks in the auction

Dinesh Karthik: The former KKR captain is expected to go for big bucks as Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise putting its weight behind allrounders Andre Russel and Sunil Narine.

Chris Gayle:  The Universe Boss is not leaving any time soon as he can still demoralize a bowling unit with his merciless hitting.
