The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction is set to take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. A total of 359 players will go under the hammer as the 10 teams will look to fill 77 slots ahead of the IPL 2026 season next year.
The total remaining auction purse if Rs 237.5 crore divided between the 10 teams with Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) leading the way with Rs 64.3 crore while MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will have budget of Rs 43.4 crore.
The teams are expected to bid heavily on all-rounder like Australia’s Cameron Green and Indian Venkatesh Iyer. Another player who should be most sought-after is leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who was released by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the auction. Bishnoi is in the base price of Rs 2 crore and will come up No. 30 in the auction in the Spinners lot.
Star Indian batters Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who had gone unsold in the previous IPL auctions have been clubbed in ‘BA1’ category which will come up first in Tuesday’s auction when it gets underway at 230pm IST.
This year the BCCI have come up with a new rule of capping the maximum salary of the foreign player. The maximum fee is decided between the maximum retention price or the maximum auction price from last year – whichever is lower. For the IPL 2026 mini auction, Rs 18 crore is the lower of the two as Rishabh Pant was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year.
