Raina has been at the forefront of the coronavirus fight. He has not just spread awareness among citizens by asking them to stay indoors, he has also made monetary donations towards the COVID-19 relief. Raina donated Rs 52 lakh for which he was subsequently praised by PM Narendra Modi.
Not long back, Raina was in Chennai for the pre-IPL camp of the Chennai Super Kings. He trained with Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Piyush Chawla among others in the first week of March before the camp was suspended.
Meanwhile, with the coronavirus outbreak affecting most major sporting events, it is highly unlikely that the cash-rich Indian Premier League will take place.
For now, the start of the IPL has been put back from March 29 until April 15 “as a precautionary measure” over the coronavirus, the BCCI said.
Earlier, the Olympics was also postponed to 2021.
In India, the number of positive coronavirus cases has gone past the 4000-mark and is on the rise.
