ISSF World Cup: Abhishek Verma Bags Gold in Men’s 10m Air Pistol Event

Abhishek Verma bagged a gold medal with a score of 242.7 in men’s 10m air pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation, Rifle & Pistol World Cup in Beijing on Saturday.

In what was a successful appearance in just his second ISS World Cup participation, the 29-year-old bagged India’s second Tokyo Olympic quota place in the men’s 10m air pistol event following Saurabh Chaudhary, who took the first in New Delhi earlier.

In other events, Artem Chernousov of Russia and Korea’s Seung-woo Han won silver and bronze medals after posting a score of 240.4 and 220, respectively.

Verma had previously sealed a place in the summit event of the Shooting World Cup after finishing in the forth position with the score of 585 (19x) in the qualification round of the 10m Air Pistol event.

Other Indians in competition, Shahzar Rizvi and Arjun Singh Cheema finished in the positions of 32 and 54 respectively.
