New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah was once again trolled on Twitter following his no-ball during the first One-Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. In sixth over of Sri Lankan innings, Bumrah had opener Upul Tharanga caught but it turned out that the pacer had overstepped. His no-ball meant Tharanga was allowed to continue batting. He eventually scored valuable 49 to take Sri Lanka closer to the paltry target of 113 runs.

Bumrah started on a promising note and picked a wicket in the fourth over by removing Danushka Gunathilaka. Had he removed Tharanga as well things could have been different for India. This was not the first time, Bumrah had picked a wicket off a no-ball. During the final of ICC Champions Trophy in June against Pakistan, Bumrah had Fakhar Zaman caught but it was off a no-ball. Zaman eventually managed to score a match-winning century and that proved costly for India. Put to bat, India were bundled out for just 112 runs. Apart from MS Dhoni none of the Indian batsmen got going. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 65 off 87 balls to register his 67th half-century.

In response, Sri Lanka reached the target in 20-4 overs with seven wickets to spare. After losing two wickets early, Tharanga and Angelo Mathews bailed Sri Lanka out of the trouble with a partnership of 46 runs. Mathews then added an unbeaten 49-run stand for the fourth wicket with Niroshan Dickwella.

India and Sri Lanka now face-off in the second ODI in Mohali on December 13.
