New Delhi: Jhulan Goswami became the first Women’s cricketer to pick 200 wickets in One-Day Internationals. The fast bowler achieved the feat during the second ODI between India and South Africa women’s cricket teams. At the start of the match, the 35-year-old pacer needed one wicket to reach the landmark. Goswami had South African opener Laura Wolvaardt caught behind and with that completed her 200 wickets in ODIs.

Last year, Goswami became the leading wicket-taker in Women’s cricket, surpassing Australia’s Catheryn Fitzpatrick (180 wickets). Interestingly, she achieved the feat against South Africa during the Quadrangular series at Potchefstroom.

Goswami took 166 matches to reach the landmark of 200 wickets. She has 40 wickets in her kitty from 10 Tests and 50 wickets from 60 matches. She has also won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award in 2007, the Arjuna Award in 2010 and the Padma Shri in 2012.
