Notable off spinner Ashwin was handed the new ball and it did the trick. In the second over of the innings, Sri Lankan opener Tharanga became the victim of Ashwin’s arm ball when he hit the ball straight to the fielder. Also Check: R Ashwin Fastest to Test Double of 2000 Runs & 250 Wickets
KL Rahul, who was at short leg, managed to hold the ball somehow as it directly went to hit his belly and Rahul crouched and closed his thighs desperately in order to complete the catch. It was a very well taken catch and it was followed by Rahul’s and Kohli’s coordinated dab during the celebration.

Earlier, riding on centuries by Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, India smashed 622 runs in their first innings for the loss of nine wickets. The visitors have put themselves in a comfortable position, while SL is under pressure and they will aim to avoid follow on and make a comeback in the series by winning the Test.
