Live Cricket Score, IND vs AUS 1st Test Day 1: End of an outstanding day of Test cricket. It all started with the Aussie speedsters derailing the Indian innings in the morning. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins were stupendous with their efforts as they brought the visiting team on the mat. All of them picked up a couple of wickets apiece and Nathan Lyon also contributed to the cause by hunting down the dangerous looking Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.

For India, it looks like a sorry scorecard. The top order got blown away in no time and they were reeling at 41/4 at one stage. After that, Cheteshwar Pujara found an ally in Rohit Sharma and together they formed a partnership. Just when it appeared that Sharma will run away with the show, a moment of brain fade resulted in his demise from the crease. Pujara though didn’t lose hope and kept on adding partnerships with the lower order. Courtesy his hundred, the visitors have got a respectable total on the board now although it still appears below par on this surface.

Live Updates IND vs AUS, 1st Test Day 1: OUT run out (Pat Cummins). India have lost their ninth wicket. Pujara is well short! Take a bow, Pat Cummins. They needed something magical to dismiss Pujara and it has come through an inspiration piece of fielding by Pat. A fuller length ball on middle, Pujara gently pushes it towards mid-on and wants to retain strike for the next over. Hence he takes a chance as calls his partner through. However, Cummins attacks the ball, throws up himself in the air, has just one stump to aim at and he scores a direct hit at the non-striker’s end. All that happened in one motion. Wow. It’s an incredible effort from someone who has bowled 19 overs in the day under hot conditions. What an athlete! The umpire goes upstairs to check for the run-out and Pujara is not even in the frame. End of an outstanding knock and he walks back to a good ovation from the crowd. That also will be Stumps on Day 1 India 250/9 at Stumps vs Australia in Adelaide. Pujara 123. Australia vs India, 1st Test Day 1 Highlights Adelaide: Cheteshwar Pujara fought his way to a gritty century even as familiar batting woes on foreign soil left India struggling at 250/9 on the opening day of the first cricket Test against Australia on Thursday. Pujara posted a wonderfully patient and composed 123 off 246 deliveries before being run out off the last ball of the day. His stay in the middle was studded with seven boundaries and two hits into the stands.

Pacer Mohammad Shami (6) was at the crease when umpires dislodged the bails for the day. The visitors have only themselves to blame for their troubles as most of their top order batsmen virtually threw away their wickets by going after deliveries which they should have left alone.

Pujara was the only saving grace for the famed Indian batting line-up, which has come into this series with a big reputation. Despite the regular fall of wickets at the other end, the Saurashtra batsman continued to bat patiently, carefully avoiding the big shots and playing the ball along the ground.

With half their line-up back in the pavilion even before the score had crossed the 100-run mark, it seemed at one point that the Indians would find it hard-pressed to even put 200 on the board.

But Pujara’s grit and determination and his crucial partnerships with Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin restored some respectability to the Indian total. The Australians bowled with discipline and aggression which saw Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon bag two wickets each.

Australia’s playing XI: Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
