With the rain intervening and playing a crucial role in the toss, England chose to bowl and James Anderson, like he so often does, took full advantage of the swinging conditions on offer. He got rid of both the openers and set it all up from there. Cheteshwar Pujara’s unfortunate run out at the hands of his skipper didn’t help either. It seemed like a mere procession from that point on. Chris Woakes, along with Sam Curran, joined in and induced further damage. Anderson came back towards the end and finished with a fifer. With that, he now has 99 Test wickets at Lord’s, one short of an important milestone.

So, after more stops than starts on this rain-marred Day 2 of the Lord’s Test, we’ve had a lot of action towards the final leg of the day. India’s batting frailties came to the fore once more and were exposed, rather embarrassingly, as they were bowled out for just a mere 107. The ball was doing a lot, but you’d expect more from the no.1 ranked Test team in the world. If Ravichandran Ashwin is your highest-scorer with 29, there are some serious questions which need to be asked.

Takes his cap off, waves to the crowd and acknowledges their support. Beautiful bowling. Length ball on off, coming in and then going away. Ishant Sharma is squared up as he looks to defend but is caught on the back pad. Big shout and the finger goes up. INDIA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 107! James Anderson 5/20, Chris Woakes 2/19, Ravichandran Ashwin 29

India vs England 2018, 2nd Test Live Cricket Updates: Big edge and FOUR! Doesn’t matter how the runs come, as long as they come. India have got to the 100-mark with this. Full and attacking the stumps, Shami swings by clearing his front leg and gets a bit top edge over the slip cordon. The fielder tries chasing it down, but it’s just in vain. India vs England 2018, 2nd Test Live Cricket Updates: OUT! Stuart Broad removes Ravichandran Ashwin for 29.

There was bat involved, but it came after it went off the pad. Ashwin is a dead duck. Full, fast and swinging back in from around off, Ashwin looks to drive this away but is caught on the front pad. Loud appeal, the finger goes up and instantly the batsman takes the review, probably as he thinks the inside edge will save him. The TV umpire comes into play and replays show that the ball goes off the pad first, and then the bat. So India highest-scorer in this innings is gone.

India vs England 2018, 2nd Test Live Cricket Updates: OUT! James Anderson removes Kuldeep Yadav for Nought. Never in doubt. Anderson was trying this in this over. Just brings it back in straighter and swings it in. Kuldeep Yadav looks to drive but is rapped flush on the pad in the front of the stumps. Big appeal and the finger goes up. Kuldeep, for the sake of it, since there are two anyway, takes a review. It’s taken upstairs and replays show all three reds ticked. India 96/8 vs England at Lord’s

India vs England, 2nd Test Lord’s, Day 2 Highlights: Veteran quick James Anderson starred with the ball taking five wickets to help England bowl India out for a paltry 107 at stumps on a rain-truncated second day of the second cricket Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Friday. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (29) top-scored for the visitors even as the English pacers used the overcast conditions well, with Anderson emerging the wrecker-in-chief to pick 5/20.

Fellow pacers Chris Woakes (2/19), Stuart Broad (1/37) and Sam Curran (1/26) complemented the seasoned Anderson well sharing the rest five wickets.

Put in to bat after incessant rain completely washed out the opening day, India failed to recover from the early jolts of openers Murali Vijay (0) and Lokesh Rahul (8) before the showers disrupted the proceedings in the morning session.
