Brendan Rodgers’ side are thoroughly enjoying their run of results as they come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win over Manchester City. Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho fired home the unstoppable strikes beyond a hapless Joe Hart to extend the Reds’ unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches. The Merseyside club are currently sixth in the league table with 48 points and they can go fourth should other results on the day fall in their favour.
Meanwhile, Burnley’s winless run extended to seven matches following their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City. The Clarets have relegation dangling on the horizon and they sit 19th in the league table with 22 points; three behind 17th placed Aston Villa. A shock positive result at Anfield will see them move up by two places, provided Queens Park Rangers do not stun Arsenal in the other league game on Wednesday. Sean Dyche’s side face an astonishingly difficult run of fixtures starting this one with Manchester City, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal falling one after the other.
