India bettered its medal count from Beijing with six medals at the London Olympics in 2016. India brought home two silver and four bronze medals.

New Delhi: The Olympic Games returned to the city of London in 2012. The USA returned to lead the medals tally after ending in 2nd spot in Beijing four years back. The Americans won the most gold – 48 – and the most medals as well – 104.

China finished in second position with 38 gold and 91 medals while hosts Great Britain ended up with 29 gold and 65 medals to their name. India ended up in 56th place among the various nations, failing to bring home any gold medals. They doubled their medals tally from Beijing with 6 medals with shooter Vijay Kumar and wrestler Sushil Kumar winning silver medals.

India also won four bronze medals with shooter Gagan Narang, shuttler Saina Nehwal, boxer MC Mary Kom and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt being the medallists.
