Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has had a history of having strained relationships with some of the top players of the clubs he has managed, Iker Casillas at Real Madrid, Juan Mata at Chelsea and most recently, Paul Pogba at his current club.
This episode started when Paul Pogba initially criticized Mourinho’s tactics, terming it as “negative”. Manchester United have had a disappointing start to the 2018-19 season and currently sit in the seventh position in the Premier League.
The apparent training ground altercations were filmed at Manchester United’s training ground by Sky Sports, during the club’s training session. In the footage, the French international, Paul Pogba can be seen greeting and high-fiving Michael Carrick, a former Manchester United midfielder who is now a part of the coaching staff at United, then shaking another staff member’s hand. As he does so, the coach Jose Mourinho seems to say something that he wasn’t expecting, and it was not pleasant at all, as the video suggests.
Following that, Mourinho and Pogba have a seemingly heated conversation and the midfielder spreads his palms as if to say, what is this all about?, and a closer look through another video shows Mourinho questioning his assistant over Pogba’s Instagram activity.
Recently, Mourinho stripped Paul Pogba of his vice-captaincy and openly stated on media that Paul Pogba will never be Manchester United captain.
Nothing seems to be going right for Manchester United at the moment, the club lost to Derby County ( a team which plays in the lower division of the English football league) at home stadium, Old Trafford.
This video surely suggests that the environment at Manchester United is not pleasant and motivating enough for players or fans at the moment and the club board may need to intervene to resolve matters between a youth-product midfielder they paid 100 million euros for to bring him back to Old Trafford from Juventus and the manager that the club strongly sought, Jose Mourinho.
