Manchester United have had problems of misfiring strikers with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez failing to impress, and are looking to sign Gremio and Brazil international forward Everton Sousa Soares according to several reports. Recently, the footballer opened up about the links stating he would be open to a move to Manchester United.

According to Brazilian news service Globo Esporte, the Red Devils are preparing a 30 million pound (around $39 million) offer to sign the 22-year-old.

“There are lots of rumours,” Everton said after scoring in Gremio’s 2-0 victory over Chapecoense in Brazil’s top flight. “I’m playing well and we all know that it’s difficult for Brazilian clubs (to keep players) when English teams come calling. I’ll wait for the season to end and see what is the best for me and for Gremio.”

Everton, who mainly plays as a left winger but can also operate as a No. 10 or second striker, has scored 10 goals in 24 Brazilian Serie A matches this season.

He was a member of the Gremio team that won last year’s Copa Libertadores, South America’s top club competition, and was rewarded for his consistent form by being called up to Brazil’s national side in August.

“You never know what the future holds,” Everton said. “I’m contracted with Gremio but I can’t deny that it would be a unique opportunity to play at a high level in European football,” he added.
