For the uninformed, Jose Mourinho was approached by Paris Saint Germain way back in 2007. That was around the time the ace Portuguese manager was sacked by Chelsea for the first time. Mourinho was considering getting back into management and was jobless at the time. Chelsea had a clause in his contract, which stopped him from signing for any other any English club. Even the English national team came calling at the time. The two-time Champions League winner’s eyes fluttered but finally decided to go to Italy, taking up the Inter Milan job. He went on to create history there, winning the ‘treble’ for the first time in Italy’s history.

Lot of water passed under the bridge as his time with Real Madrid and his Chelsea (2nd spell) was seen as a bit of hit and a miss. Nine years later, Mourinho finds himself without a job again. He is keen to getting back into management after an ill-fated first half of the season, which saw Chelsea one point above the relegation door when he was shown the exit door. Mourinho is now determined to get a job in England, where his family is now based out of. Reports are rife with the 53-year-old having already signed a contract with Manchester United, who are apparently looking to replace manager Louis van Gaal in the summer. The Dutchman is currently on borrowed time and the Red Devils lie outside the top four at this point.

The plot has now thickened with Paris Saint Germain coming into the picture. The chairman of the French champions, Nasser Al-Khailaifi, according to some, tabled in an offer to Mourinho to replace Laurent Blanc. Who knows where the ‘Special One’ will end up at the start of next season but the Twitteratti are having a field day. Here is what some of them had to say:
