Marco Silva named new Watford manager on two-year deal

Marco Silva was unveiled as Watford’s new manager on a two-year deal on Saturday.

Silva quit his job as Hull boss earlier in the week – and was also in talks with Porto and Crystal Palace.

When Silva’s talks about a return to Portugal collapsed 48 hours ago, the Hornets were next in line.

Silva is the seventh Watford manager since the Pozzo family took over in July 2012.

The former Olympiakos chief replaces Walter Mazzari in the Vicarage Road dug out – after he was sacked earlier this month.

Silva used the release clause in his Tigers contract to leave the club – after they were relegated to the Championship.

The Portuguese took over in January following Mike Phelan’s dismissal but couldn’t guide the side to safety.

He has previously won titles in Portugal and Greece to earn a top reputation around Europe.
