It was rather unfortunate that fans never got to see Wasim Akram or Brian Lara in action in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) but this newly designed tournament will feature the best players from the yesteryears. Australian wicket-keeping legend Adam Gilchrist has also given his consent. The format will have six teams with a total of 90 players, spread out over 15 member squads. The event will be played in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). Masters Champions League has been given the approval to be played over a 10-year period and the teaser of the brand new tournament can be watched below:

The power and talent in this one picture is beyond measure! And now these legends are going to be back on the field with #MCL2020Posted by Masters Champions League – MCL on Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Brian Lara, one of the iconic retired players who has signed up to join the MCL, added: “I am thrilled and honoured to be taking part in what promises to be an exceptional display of competitive cricket. The UAE is a great location for a tournament like this to be based, with a big fan base in the country already and easy access for millions of other fans around the world.I hope people get behind the MCL and support some of the heroes of the game as they look to extend their careers a little longer. The MCL is a tremendous force for good, which is partly what attracted me to it. The organisers have ensured giving back is a major theme, alongside inspiring cricket in the Middle East and in terms of leaving a lasting legacy.”
