UPDATE: It has stopped raining and an inspection is due roughly 30 minutes from now

  • 9:37 AM IST

No respite yet: We’re afraid but there’s no positive news at the moment. It’s raining consistently and unfortunately, the more it does, the longer it’ll take to clear up. Till then, here’s a wrap of what transpired in the second session. Check out Kyle Jamieson’s Dream Debut ->

Rain Delays Start of Session 3: Uh oh! Well, folks. We were supposed to have play resume by now but what started as a light drizzle in Wellington has picked up. The surface remains covered and the surroundings gloomy. We will keep you posted as and when we receive any further update

End of Second Session: Tea on Day 1 with India reaching 122/5 from 55 overs. Only 43 runs scored. Pant and Rahane played out the remaining 14 overs ensure no further wickets were harmed. All of Rahane’s four boundaries came before lunch but he still seems to be bating on a different surface altogether. Pant has looked nowhere close to being comfortable but he has dug it out. With the partnership reaching 21 off 83, this too a rebuild of sorts.

  • 7:47 AM IST

OUT! Fifth wicket down for India as Vihari nicks Jamieson to Watling. India 101/5. What a debut he’s having. Another nick, another catch. Nothing wrong from Vihari, he had to play at that. Slightly around the corridor and Watling does the rest.

  • 7:41 AM IST

100 up for India but not through the most convincing boundary from Rahane. Trying to fend off a sharp bouncer from Jamieson as the ball lobbed off the gloves and over the keeper’s head for four.

  • 7:17 AM IST

WICKET: New Zealand strike early after lunch as Boult removes Agarwal for 34. India lose their 4th wicket for 88. Two balls ago, Agarwal had chipped the ball back to Boult but the left-armer put down a tough chance. This one just rose a little more and Agarwal, trying to whip the ball on the legside, hit it in the air for Jamieson to complete the catch at deep fine leg.
