Several cricket aspirants across the world look up to Indian captain Virat Kohli as their idol. The batsman currently occupies the top spot in ICC’s (International Cricket Council) world’s best batsman rankings and has set a benchmark for the new generation.

Many try to imitate Kohli’s technically strong style of play. In a recent revelation, a Pakistani based batman, Usama Baloch have shown signs of Kohli’s batting style. His gameplay came into light following several videos which circulated on social media.

Baloch, 18, was born in Dera Murad Jamali in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and he has qualities which have been pointed out are similar to that of Kohli’s style. The technique where he uses the face of the bat with power has been compared to the Indian skipper’s style.

In one of his matches, Baloch’s tea, Johar Bears were at a frail stage with the scoreline of 37 for 5. It was the batsman’s 69 runs in 39 balls knock which involved seven sixes which showed glimpses of an upcoming star batsman, and gave the fans hope that he could be the next big star of Pakistan cricket.

However, Baloch is among the several other batsmen and aspiring cricketers who are and used to be compared to some of the icons of Indian cricket but have failed to make a mark at a similar stage. It is too early to judge if a certain aspiring international cricketer can go on to achieve big and it also put them under unfair scrutiny of expectations.
