Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke made shocking revelations in his autobiography “My Story”. The former World Cup-winning cricketer wants to apologies to veteran South African fast bowler Dale Steyn. Clarke during his interview with Advertiser mentioned his bitter experiences and what he regrets about. Clarke was world cricket’s one of the finest batsman of his generations. He won the 2015 World Cup and retired from all forms of the game following the 2015 Ashes series defeat to England.

Clarke and Steyn were indulged in one of the most infamous sledgings during a Test match in 2014 at Cape Town. Clarke said that he would like to chat with Steyn and would like to apologies to Steyn. Talking to the Advertiser he said, “Yeah, definitely. I look forward to seeing him in Perth.” Clarke said that he has huge respect for the Protea fast bowler Dale Steyn and rated him as finest cricketer against whom he played. The reason behind Cape Town face off was Vernon Philander’s controversial DRS reprieve after Clarke took a catch, but umpire rejected his appeal. Angry Clarke indulged in a verbal spat and sledging with Dale Steyn, who was at the nonstriking end.

The South African bowler later said this was the worst sledging he has ever faced as Clarke termed him a “cheat”.  However, Clarke said he has no intention to attack him personally as he has only aimed to distract his mind from the game. It was learnt that Steyn still thinks about the incident. South Africa recently whitewashed Australia in a five-match ODI series and now the South Africans are touring Australia. The Test series will commence from November 3. (India vs New Zealand ODI series 2016: Is this right time to play youngsters in ODI team?)

Australians are infamous for sledging. For them, sledging is part of the game which distracts opponent minds from the game. There are many examples when Australia have won the mind games. But, sometime opponents also hit back at the Aussies. During a match between West Indies and Australia former bowling great Glenn McGrath tried to get under the skin of Ramnaresh Sarwan. McGrath said, “Hey Sarwan how is (Brian) Lara’s dickey taste?”. Sarwan, who was at the nonstriking end, hit back at McGrath and said, “Asks your wife”. Mcgrath could not digest it as his wife was spending difficult time in the hospital. Annoyed McGrath said, “If you say this again I’ll kill you”. Steyn has played 116 ODIs and has 180 wickets against his name. In Test cricket, he has taken 416 wickets in 84 matches. Clarke ended his career with 115 Test matches against his name and scored 8643 runs with the highest score of 329 not out. In ODIs Clarke featured in 245 ODIs and scored 7981 runs. 33-year-old, Steyn is looking positive to play against Australia this November. The fast bowler has become choosy with ODIs and his main focus remains on Test cricket.
