Canadian player Milos Raonic who was supposedly going to play his third match against Kei Nishikori made an announcement regarding the pull-out from the tournament. He took to Twitter to share the news as he posted “I am sad to announce that I have to withdraw from the rest of this competition, due to a low grade tear in my quad. It was a hard decision..“. The injury took place during his last match against Andy Murray. Spanish player David Ferrer will step in as the first choice replacement for Milos Raonic for a face-off against Kei Nishikori.
Milos Raonic made his debut at the World Tour Finals and was expected to have a longer run at the tournament but he fell short against Federer and Murray to virtually being knocked out of the tournament. He also posted a tweet regarding the fans deserving a better show and not a half-hearted performance. He promised to come back with a better show next year. He apologized to his fans saying, “You, the fans deserve a great show & I wouldn’t step out if I couldn’t. I am sorry for the fans. I will do everything to be here next year.”
Kei Nishikori will take on David Ferrer in the Thursday’s first session, while the much anticipated Roger Federer vs Andy Murray match will be played as per the schedule.
