MS Dhoni was sharp as ever as he runout two Australian batsmen on one ball at Vizag during the 1st T20I. The incident happened during the 16th over with Peter Handscomb on strike with D’Arcy Short. Umesh strayed on his legs as he flicked the ball on the leg side and took off for the run. After the first run, both the batters wanted a mid-pitch handshake it seemed and all that Dhoni did was collect the throw from the deep and disturb the sticks at the batter’s end. Dhoni did not know about the whereabouts of either batter and just as a matter of caution threw the ball to the bowler, who also took a bail off. But no double play is allowed, of course. But, a double play is not allowed hence Short had to make the long walk back. Earlier, former India captain MS Dhoni came in at a stage when the team was reeling and even before he could get his eye in, he had tailenders at the other end. The 37-year-old totally changed gears and farmed the strike, refusing to take singles or even look for a second. He remained unbeaten on 29 off 37 balls as the Men in Blue posted 126 in their stipulated 20 overs. MS Dhoni’s strike rate of 78.37 is the second-lowest by an India batsman in a T20I inning of 35+ balls.

One has to admit that India fought well to make a match out of it. The total of India 126 never looked good enough to challenge the Australians, but the Indians were disciplined in the field and with the ball apart from that forgettable last over. India will host Australia in the last T20I on February 27 and would be looking to level the series.
