Former India captain MS Dhoni is preparing himself for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International series against Sri Lanka. However, the team for the limited overs fixtures has not been announced yet, but Dhoni in all likelihood will be the part of the Indian squad.
Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket in December 2014, has shared a selfie with teammates Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav on his Instagram account. Dhoni captioned the selfie as, “NCA all test’s done.20 mtr in 2.91sec. Run a 3 done in 8.90sec.time for heavy lunch,” indicating that the non-Test team members are currently going through an evaluation process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Team India is currently involved the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, last of which will start from August 12 at Pallekele. The Virat Kohli-led side has already won the series. After the Test series, the teams will lock horns in the five match ODI series and one-off T20I starting from August 20 onwards.
On Thursday, Raina had posted a picture of his training along with pacer Jasprit Bumrah at the NCA on his Twitter account as well. Raina wrote, “At #NCA with this super talented man @Jaspritbumrah93 Always amazed me with his performance and made us all proud. Many more to come buddy!”

The left-handed batsman on Friday once again took to Twitter and shared his selfie with Dhoni apart from other pictures from the NCA. He tweeted, “A well spent day at #NCA! Always so much to learn from @msdhoni and be inspired.”

The ODI series against Sri Lanka will be India’s second assignment after the ICC Champions trophy 2017. The team immediately after the Champions Trophy travelled to Carribean for five ODIs and one T20I. The Indian selectors will meet on Sunday to pick the squad for the limited overs leg of Sri Lanka leg. While Dhoni is certain to feature in the squad, it will be interesting to whether Raina makes a comeback or not. Dhoni looked in good touch against Windies, scoring two half-centuries in the five-match series. The former skipper, who has been out of action since then, will be looking to continue his good run against Sri Lanka.
