IPL 2019: The signs are ominous! Former India skipper MS Dhoni is looking at his very best in the fag end of his career in the Chennai Super Kings nets. He was seen smashing the ball like-never-before. He was going over the top and middling them really well. These are great signs for the defending champions ahead of the upcoming season. The CSK skipper joined the team a couple of days back and since his return, there has been a constant buzz in and around the team. But to watch him in the kind of form he showed in the nets must be heartwarming for the team management.
Here is Dhoni’s first net session at the CSK nets:
In the 140 seconds clip, you will see Dhoni is not shy to step down the ground. It is important during the IPL to do that on the turning pitches in India to counter spin and be successful. Looks like the 37-year-old veteran is bringing all his experience to the table. If Dhoni’s form is anything to go by, CSK stands a good chance to go deep in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Dhoni would be chasing a milestone where he is in range of becoming the first Indian to hit 200 sixes in IPL history. He has 186 sixes and needs 14 more, but just behind him, he has Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma who have a six less than the CSK captain. CSK is one of the most successful IPL teams and they would look to live up to the expectations in the season that lies ahead.
CSK would also be playing on the opening night of the upcoming season when they lock horns with RCB on March 23 in a mouthwatering southern derby.
