New Delhi: MS Dhoni celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday with daughter Ziva and one of his pet dogs, the video of which went viral on social media. Dhoni, who is known to keep low key, has been spending his time with family post-IPL 2024, where his team Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs. In fact, after the IPL, Dhoni and his family flew out to Paris for a holiday.

In the video that was shared from Ziva’s Instagram handle, it starts with a collection of photos of Dhoni with his pet dog. Dhoni was seen caressing his pet dog before the father-daughter duo did the same to their friend. Lastly, Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi was seen playing with the dog too. All this was happening at Dhoni’s farmhouse in Ranchi. Ziva captioned the post, “Familia.”

It is still not sure whether Dhoni will play in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League next year. The two-time World Cup-winning former India captain carried a knee injury for the past two seasons but it seemed to have healed considering Dhoni’s running between the wickets towards the end of IPL 2024. Dhoni’s CSK got eliminated from the playoffs race after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final group game.

Earlier, Dhoni had passed on the captaincy baton to young Ruturaj Gaikwad just before IPL 2024. The Maharashtra cricketer did a decent job as CSK finished fifth in the table. Meanwhile, Dhoni had stated that keeping his fitness on point while not playing the whole year is a challenge for him.

“The toughest thing is… I am not playing cricket throughout the year. So I have to be fit. Once I come, you are competing against youngsters who are fit and playing international cricket,” Dhoni said on Dubai Eye 103.8 YouTube channel.

“Professional sport is not easy, nobody gives you a discount for age. If you want to play, you have to be as fit as the other guy. Age does not really give that grace to you. So, eating habits, a bit of training and all those things are there. Social media, thankfully, I am not on social media, so there’s less distraction.”
