IPL 2019: India opener Rohit Sharma is a massive football fan and there is no secret about it. Seems like Rohit is an ardent Real Madrid fan because after the club suffered a shock exit before the quarter-finals he took to Twitter to defend the club. He felt they have been an absolute powerhouse in football. He also highlighted that this was the first time in the last 22 years that the side has not made it to the quarter-finals. “First time in 22 years @realmadrid has failed to qualify for @ChampionsLeague shows how dominant & consistent they have been in Europe. Any team can have one bad year, it’s no big deal. They are still a powerhouse,” wrote Rohit Sharma.

Madrid, given they had won four times in the last five years and won it consecutively for the last three, expectations were high from the Spanish side. Seems like the leaving of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo has made a huge impact to the side.

Meanwhile, the eight teams to have qualified for the quarter-finals are Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, FC Porto, AFC Ajax, Tottenham. The UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals is slated to take place on March 15 (Friday) in Nyon (UEFA headquarters, Switzerland) at 4:30 PM IST.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma would be gearing up to lead Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season of IPL chasing their fourth title.
