Mumbai, April 21: In a significant move from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis backed by IOA President Narindra Batra and IOC member Nita Ambani, Fadnavis has show interest to IOC President Thomas Bach to host the 2032 Olympics and Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

The President took part in meeting children here who are being benefitted by grassroots programme supported by Reliance Foundation, a Olympic organization statement said. Bach also joined few kids in a five-a-side football tournament.

Bach was also the guest of honour at a reception which was studded by Indian Olympic athletes and marquee business personalities including Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also a part of the ceremony.

Following the interest shown by the Maharashtra CM, 2008 Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra has backed the decision as it will be ideal to host a multi-sport event in an ecosystem that India has. “If we r to bid for a Multi discipline event , the youth Olympics is the ideal event in our current ecosystem. More than the event , investment which would be directed to the grassroots and our youth will help build champions for the future.Good luck Mumbai 2026 in your endeavour!,” Bindra tweeted.
