Antigua, July 29: India’s longtime Test opener Murali Vijay would not be part of the playing XI against West Indies in the second test. Due to a thumb injury, he has been ruled out. Vijay suffered the thumb injury during a practice session in Antigua. As a precautionary measure, the team management was advised to give him a rest. His injury has provided Lokesh Rahul an opportunity to shine with the bat. Rahul has lately been in good form, exhibiting a fine display of his batting skills during the Zimbabwe tour and Indian Premiere League. The 24-year-old has left the analysts surprised right from his debut in the past year. The right-handed batsman has also registered a test century against Australia.
The second test between India and West Indies would begin from July 30. The match played at Sabina Park would be telecasted live from 8:30 PM in India. Having taken a 1-0 lead in the series, Virat Kohli’s men look keen to maintain their dominance.
