The National Basket Ball Association (NBA) kick-starts with its 2014-15 season with the Orlando Magic taking on New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Centre in Louisiana on Monday. After the scintillating season last year where San Antonio spurs emerged victories with a 4-1 win over Miami heat in the finals, the new season promises for change of fortunes with LeBron James moving to Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Durant absent from the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a foot fracture. Here are the top five teams to look for the upcoming season.
San Antonio Spurs: Yet again, hope rests on the experienced and proven trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Man Ginobili to help Spurs defend the championship title. The emergence of Kawhi Leonard, Patty Mills and Marco Belinelli would help Spurs breathe easy on their future.

Cleveland Cavaliers: Fortunes have changed for the Cavaliers with the return of King James to their side. King James has promised to help his home team win their first NBA title. And when the King says he will, there is little the opposition defence can do to stop him from scoring the aggressively slam dunk. Presence of LeBron James only adds more power to the line-up that already comprises star players like Kyrie Erving and Kevin Love.

Miami Heat: It is weird how the absence of one man can make such a difference to a side that reached the finals for four consecutive years. Nonetheless, even without LeBron James, Miami heat have a formidable side with the likes of Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen in the line-up.

Portland Trail Blazers: The Trail Blazers provided for some attacking and action-packed basketball last year and the same would be expected of them this season. It is not a star-studded side, but the teamwork helped them reach the conference semi-final where they lost to eventual champions san Antonio Spurs. LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews and Damian Lillard will be the players to watch out for in the Trail Blazers’ side.

Los Angeles Clippers: After living under the shadows of the more successful Los Angeles Lakers for years, Clippers put up a brilliant show last year when they reached the conference semi-final, losing to Oklahoma City Thunder 2-4
