India’s Sachin Yadav performed better than Neeraj Chopra and came in fourth in the javelin final at the World Athletics Championships on Thursday. He threw a personal best of 86.27m and just missed winning a bronze medal. Neeraj Chopra did not win a medal this time. His best throw was 84.03m, which was lower than the 84.85m he threw in the qualifying round.
Since the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Neeraj had always won a medal in every event, until now. Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan, the current Olympic champion, finished 10th. Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago won the gold with a season-best throw of 88.16m. Anderson Peters of Grenada took silver with 87.38m, and Curtis Thompson from the USA got bronze with a throw of 86.67m.
