Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, who has been recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, has expressed jubilance over the development, saying he never dreamt of joining such a coveted list.
Dravid, popularly known as The Wall, is the fifth Indian to be inducted to the prestigious group that includes cricketing legends such as Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble.
“It is a very humbling feeling. A lot of people who been recognised in the ICC Hall of Fame are people like my heroes and people whom i have looked up to. There’ve people whose posters I have had on the walls of my bedroom while growing up as a kid. They have been real inspirations for me,” Dravid told ICC in an interview.
“Some of my colleagues whom I have played with and played against are on the Hall of Fame. So, to be considered of the honour to be a part of that group and to be alongside, is not something I had dreamt of. But it really does feel very special and nice,” he added.

Dravid is known for his outstanding defence technique in cricket. He is regarded as one of India’s greatest-ever Test batsmen and among the all-time greats at No.3 in Test cricket.
Dravid aggregated 13,288 runs in 164 Tests with 36 centuries and 10,889 runs in 344 ODIs with 12 centuries and was in 2004 named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year as well as the ICC Test Player of the Year. Dravid, who played a solitary T20 International, was also a brilliant slip fielder and finished his Test career in 2012 with 210 catches, which is a world record.
During his role as captain, he led India to rare Test series victories in the Caribbean and in England in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
