New Zealand Mosque Shooting: Senior Bangladesh cricketer Shakib al Hasan took to social media after the Christchurch shooting to thank the Almighty for the narrow escape of his teammates. It was similar to what happened in Pakistan in 2009 when the touring Sri Lankan team was attacked by gunmen while the team bus was on its way to the stadium. In the Christchurch episode, the Bangladeshi cricketers were going to the mosque to offer their Friday prayers when they came to know of the shooting that was taking place inside the mosque. On getting the piece of news, they were frightened and quickly got onto their team bus and left for the hotel. According to media reports, 49 people lost their lives in the horror incident. Shakib posted twice on Twitter. His first post read, “I have nothing to say about the active shooting in New Zealand that took place all I want to say is I’m grateful to almighty Allah for saving my brothers my teammates! Alhamdulillah.” Also Read - Munaf Patel, Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi Among Overseas Players For Lanka Premier League 2020 Auction

Earlier, BCB and Tamim Iqbal also tweeted confirming that all players were safe. Meanwhile, the final Test has been called off following the grave episode.
