Not Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma; Aakash Chopra Picks KL Rahul as Team India's Best T20 Player

T20 WC, Ind vs Eng: Aakash Chopra made a huge statement on Rahul, hailing him as India's best T20 player.

Dubai: India opener KL Rahul started from where he left off in the Indian Premier League. The timing, the confidence, and the ability to clear the ropes were all there as he went on to hit a breathtaking 51 off 24 balls on Monday in India's first warm-up game against England.

Rahul and makeshift opener Ishan Kishan got India off to a rollicking start and that helped them gun down a big score of 189. India won the game by seven wickets and an over still to go.

Meanwhile, India captain Virat Kohli has confirmed that Rahul would be opening with Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, there were speculations over who will open as Kohli had expressed his desire to partner Rohit Sharma at the top.

Meanwhile, India would be happy with the outing as they ticked some boxes that include two senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah (1/26) and Mohammed Shami (3/40) hitting the straps straightaway with some fast and accurate deliveries. The third angle to this 'triangle' Bhuvneshwar Kumar, however, consistently missed the length giving away 54 runs in four overs.

Kohli (11) didn't score much but that would be least of concerns for the Indian team.

Hardik Pandya, who is supposed to be the "designated finisher" in this line-up, came to the crease with 21 needed off 15 balls and he hit a few streaky shots in his 16 not out in 10 balls.

India takes on Australia in their second warm-up game before locking horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in their tournament opener on October 24.
