New Delhi, April 24: Star Indian paddler Manika Batra was on Tuesday honoured for her prolific run in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2018 held at the Gold Coast. Batra became the highest individual medal holder for the nation across all disciplines in the marquee tournament.

Batra also came in to the limelight as she led the Indian women’s team to their first-ever Gold medal against four-time defending champion Singapore in the competition which India ended to the third spot with 66 medals consisting 26 Gold, 20 Silver and 20 Bronze.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised by the@DelhiPolice. Thanks to @DCPWestDelhi for the ceremonial greeting to felicitate my win of 4 medals in the Goldcoast CWG 2018 and also my coach Mr.Sandeep Gupta,” Manika tweeted.

Meanwhile, the DCP West Delhi tweeted: “It was our pleasure and honour to felicitate our nation’s pride Manika Batra, Gold Medalist in commonwealth and also her coach. She encouraged our female staff to give hundred percent in their duties. We wish Manika all the very best for all coming events.”

Earlier, according to reports, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) recommended the 2018 Commonwealth Games table tennis star Manika Batra for the prestigious Arjuna Award on Friday. Manika will be next seen in action during the World Championships which is slated to get underway from April 29.
