Padma Awards: Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir received the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri. Gambhir was conferred upon the award by honourable President Ramnath Kovind at the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan for his contribution to Indian cricket. Gambhir has played pivotal roles in India inaugural World T20 and the 2011 World Cup triumphs. The cricketers, his colleagues were right out there to laud the cricketer and congratulate him for the honour. Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha congratulated Gautam Gambhir referring him as ‘bhai’, lovingly. Ashwin congratulated him and his post read, “Well deserved… Gauti bhai”. Wriddhiman Saha tweeted, “Congratulations bhai”.

After receiving the prestigious award, Gambhir took to Twitter and his post read, “This is for all the supporters of Indian cricket and my critics. Both have played a part in my journey…some day will discuss who played more than the other.”
