Zimbabwe will be praying for another dominant performance from the hosts Pakistan in the final league match of the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Thursday. Salman Ali Agha’s Pakistan team are the only unbeaten side in the tri-series so far with three wins in three matches.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had a torrid start to the tri-series with three back-to-back losses at the hands of Pakistan and Zimbabwe. They finally bounced back with a nine-wicket win in their last game against Zimbabwe to remain in hunt to reach the final. Opener Pathum Nissanka scored 98 not out to complete a dominant win for the Lankans.
But, in spite of that big win, Sri Lanka have the worst NRR of the three teams of -1.324. So a win for Pakistan on Thursday night will be enough for Zimbabwe to reach the final. However, a win for Sri Lanka will take them to 4 points with 2 wins and above Pakistan who only have 2 points after 4 matches.
Hosts Pakistan have already booked their place in the final. They also have the better head-to-head record against Sri Lanka with 15 wins as compared to 10 by the Lankans.
