After a promising start with Chelsea, French midfielder Lassana Diarra’s career has seen many twists and turns. Now plying his trade with Olympique Marseille, Diarra revealed that his cousin was among the 128 people gunned down by terrorists in Paris on Friday evening.
Diarra, who started for France during their 2-0 win against Germany, said in a statement about the deceased Asta Diakité, “A big sister to me … In this climate of terror, it is important for all of us who are representatives of our country and its diversity to speak and remain united against a horror that has no colour, no religion.”

Atletico Madrid’s fleet footed winger, Antonie Griezmann’s sister Maude had a close shave with death. She was in the Bataclan Concert hall, where 87 people were killed and took to social media to thank his stars for Maude coming out alive, he said “Thanks God my sister was able to exit the Bataclan. All my prayers to the victims and their families.”

Crystal Palace right back Martin Kelly was also in the city when the attacks took place. There has been no comment from the Englishman but was out of the danger zone when the attacks took place. It is learnt that the French and the German camps knew about the situation that was developing outside the stadium. Perhaps the officials thought that the 80, 000 strong crowd were safer at Stade de France. After the final whistle, thousands of supporters stepped onto the pitch, mourning and frantically trying to call their loved ones.
