New Delhi: India’s double Olympic medallist athlete Manu Bhaker recently displayed a room full of medals, which is a second response from her side to social media trolls. In a heartwarming post, she recollected her long journey to Olympic glory, accompanied by all the medals that she has earned over the years. Although Manu is now a household name after the Paris Olympics, she suffered major trolling on social media.

The critics have been questioning Manu for “flaunting” her Olympic medals at various felicitation programs across the country. Having become the first Indian woman to win more than one medal at a single Olympic Games, Manu has taken a break from competitive shooting to attend several award ceremonies and promotional events.

“I was 14 when I started my journey in shooting. Never did I imagine I would reach this far. Once you start something, make sure you do everything possible to chase your dreams relentlessly, no matter how tough it gets. Stay focused, stay driven, and let your passion fuel your journey. Every small step forward brings you closer to greatness. Keep going; you’re capable of much more than you imagine! And, yes, my dream of winning Olympic gold medals continues,” Manu shared in her post, along with a photo of her medals spread out on her bed, with her two Olympic medals prominently displayed at the centre.

Manu Bhaker and her partner Sarabjot Singh secured a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, adding another accolade to their impressive shooting careers.

The Indian duo of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event. Both Manu and Sarabjot displayed impressive consistency, hitting regular 10s throughout the series, securing India’s second medal in the competition.

During a conversation with India Today, Manu revealed the reason behind carrying her Olympic medals around.

“It took me eight and a half years to win those medals for India. I believe those medals belong to the country. They are just with me for a while—my entire life. Whenever I go anywhere, people ask me to show them the medals. They want me to bring my medals along. When they see them, candid pictures are always taken and posted online,” she added.

Although Manu Bhaker will miss the upcoming Shooting World Cup in New Delhi, she is determined to return to training soon. With her focus now shifting toward future challenges, the Los Angeles Olympics stands as a major goal on her path to continued glory.
