Normal service resumed on Saturday as the top teams got the results they wanted. Moyes’ Manchester United finally won a game in 2014 while Eden Hazard showed that he has quickly transforming from a young sensation to a match winner.
Man Utd avoided the ignominy of the third successive home defeat as they beat Swansea City 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday. The victory was a welcome one for manager David Moyes, with the Old Trafford side winning for the fifth time in six Premier League games this season. According to Sport24, although United lacked creativity for the opening 45 minutes with Swansea in possession, however, teen sensation Adnan Januzaj inspired the hosts to victory and ended their wretched run of four defeats in their past six home games. Danny Welbeck scored their second one and has now hit the target six times in six games, while Antonio Valencia was also on target at the start of the second half, the report added. Meanwhile Moyes’ old team Everton maintained their impressive home form with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Norwich City, which sent them to the Premier League top four, on Saturday at Goodison Park. The home record of Everton, which was without star player Ross Barkley, makes for impressive reading, with the side losing only four times in their last 32 league matches. According to Sport24, goals from Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas were enough to see Roberto Martinez”s side surge back into the top four, while the defeat left Norwich winless in six league matches. The home side dominated possession in the first-half, with Belgian striker Mirallas and Leighton Baines going close before Barry scored his 50th Premier league goal, the report added.
The Hazard Show at Chelsea
Chelsea has moved to the top of the Premier League following a 2-0 victory over a resilient Hull City away at the KC Stadium on Saturday. With Manchester City playing on Sunday and Arsenal on Monday, the Stamford Bridge side took advantage with their eighth win in their past 10 league games and are in a good position to push the other title challengers all the way. According to the BBC, Eden Hazard opened the scoring for City 11 minutes after the break when he fired a low strike past Allan McGregor, while Fernando Torres added a second with another low shot, from 18 yards, to seal the win, in the last minutes of the game. Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech beat the legendary Peter Bonetti’s club record with his 209th clean sheet in the game, the report added.
