India cricket captain Virat Kohli received the prestigious Khel Ratna award from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of his wife Anushka Sharma (Bollywood actress) and his mother. This is a big moment for the fiery Indian captain who is also the World No 1 batsman in both the Test and ODI format. Kohli is the third cricketer to be honoured with the Khel Ratna after batting legend Sachin Tendulkar (1997-1998) and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2007). The world’s No.1 Test batsman as per the ICC rankings, has been in stupendous form in the past three years though he missed out of the top award despite nominations in 2016 and 2017. BCCI had rested Kohli from the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE to manage his workload, as he has been playing non-stop cricket in all three formats.
