With the approaching Lok Sabha 2019 elections, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to make his appeal. Modi urged the big stars of Indian sports to come forward and help raise voter awareness ahead of the polls. Modi made an appeal to the badminton stars of the country, wrestlers and Sachin Tendulkar. Modi also asked Sachin Tendulkar to use his star power and raise awareness among voters.
He also went on to urge the Phogat sisters, Sushil Kumar, Neeraj Chopra and Bajrang Punia.
He also urged former cricketers to come forward.
The 2019 edition of the Indian general election is scheduled to be held in 7 phases from 11 April 2019 to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May 2019 and on the same day the results will be declared.
