New Delhi: Star India batter Prithvi Shaw gave fans a peek into his Ranji trophy mindset before the domestic season starts. Shaw took to Instagram, and posted pictures of him engaged in prayers and pooja. His caption read, “Prayers that calm my heart and guide my path,” highlighting his focus ahead of a crucial and busy season
Shaw, who recently shifted from Mumbai to Maharashtra has been picked in the state’s 16-member squad for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, which is scheduled to start from October 15. Maharashtra will kick off their campaign against Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram from October 15-18, with Ankeet Bawane serving as the team’s full-time captain.
The 25-year-old is looking for a fresh beginning in red-ball cricket following a challenging phase that saw him drop out of Mumbai’s lineup. He looked in a great form, as he scored 181 runs in a warm-up match against his former team, Mumbai, as they posted a total of 305-run opening stand with Arshin Kulkarni. Kulkarni also smashed a century in the same match, displaying the strength of Maharashtra’s top order.
Addressing a recent on-field clash with his former Mumbai teammate Musheer Khan was another aspect of Shaw’s preseason preparations.
A source confirmed to TOI earlier, “Prithvi realized his mistake, and approached Musheer and apologised to him. Prithvi told him that ‘I am like an elder brother to you.” So all is well between the two.” The verbal exchange occurred during the friendly match against Mumabi, which was broadcast live by the Maharashtra Cricket Association.
Experienced all-rounder Jalaj Saxena, who rejoined the team after a long stint with Kerala and played a key role in their run to the Ranji Trophy final the previous season, joins Shaw. As they aim for a strong campaign, Saxena’s experience should help Maharashtra’s middle order.
Shaw’s Instagram post showcases his desire to concentrate on cricket and personal growth in the face of upcoming challenges. His prayers and pooja seem to reflect a refreshed mindset following recent on-field tensions, as he aims to revive his red-ball career with Maharashtra in the new season.
