New Delhi: The playoffs in the 2017 Pro Kabaddi League began on Monday as in the first eliminator, Puneri Paltan beat UP Yoddha 40-38 in a cliff-hanger of a game. In the second eliminator, Patna Pirates ran riot as they beat Haryana Steelers 69-30 in a one-sided match. Eventually the winner of the first eliminator Puneri Paltan will take on the loser of the second eliminator Patna Pirates in eliminator three on Tuesday. There are three more matches left before the final.
Talking of the Pune game, Girish Ernak was rock solid at the back and scored seven tackle points whereas Deepak Niwas Hooda scored 10 raid points to lead their team to victory.
UP Yoddha squandered a solid start 5-0 lead and despite Rishank Devadiga’s 15 point effort, their campaign came to an end.
Meanwhile, in the other match of the day, Patna skipper Pardeep Narwal led from the front to score 34 points, the most by any raider in the history of Pro Kabaddi, and also became the first man to reach 300 raid points in Season 5. Haryana’s famed defence led by Surender Nada and Mohit Chhillar failed miserably as they could score just three tackle points. (With IANS inputs)
