If we thought Fazel Atrachali stole Day 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League 2018, then we have to admit we jumped the trigger a bit too quick.
Well, with latest inputs coming in Deepak Niwas Hooda has been roped in by Jaipur Pink Panthers for a whopping Rs 1.15 Cr, surpassing Fazel’s Rs 1 Cr. Certainly, kabaddi has never seen such frantic bidding ever. It is a first and just goes to highlight how the sport has been grown. It is great to see the world taking a lot of interest in a sport which Indians consider to be their sport.
Earlier, with a base price of Rs 30 lakh, Fazel managed to get a bid of Rs 1 Cr which was a record then, going past Nitin Tomar. But just when we thought we had seen it all, in comes the bid from Jaipur franchise for Deepak Hooda, who bagged a whopping Rs 1.15 Cr. This is the biggest amount that will be received by a kabaddi player.
For Deepak, bids were placed from Telugu Titans, Haryana Steelers, Pink Panthers, Dabang Delhi, only to be won by the Panthers. It was a fiery bid, where all franchises seemed interested in him. Hooda is a raider who is strong and can also give you quick bonus points, thanks to his height and reach.
It seems this year the franchises are ready to burn their pockets in order to go the distance to get their favourite players. This is a good sign for the sport and shows that the future of kabaddi is bright.
