Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are two sides who have already booked their place in the IPL 2025 Playoffs. However, match no. 69 of the IPL 2025 season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday is of immense significance for both teams as they are both battling for top-two finish.
PBKS seem to be faltering with a top-two finish in touching distance. Shreyas Iyer’s PBKS were hammered by Delhi Capitals in their last match in Jaipur while Hardik Pandya’s MI booked their berth in the Playoffs with a massive 59-run win over DC at home at Wankhede Stadium last week.
Five-time champions MI had lost 4 out of their first five matches and can now finish at the top of table if Monday and Tuesday’s results go their way. It will be a massive boost for Pandya’s side if they can play in Qualifier 1 and get two possible opportunities to vie for record sixth IPL title.
PBKS have a major injury concern with leg-spinner Yuzvendera Chahal due to a wrist injury which force him to miss the last game against DC and he will be unavailable for Monday’s game against MI as well. However, PBKS are confident that Chahal – who was bought for Rs 18 crore – will be available for the Playoffs starting later this week.
For MI, it will be last game for the likes of Ryan Rickleton in the IPL 2025 before he depart for England to join South Africa ahead of WTC 2025 Final next month. Corbin Bosch is also available for the last league match but is unlikely to replace all-rounder Mitchell Santner.
