Two teams who have been part of the Indian Premier League for the last 18 years but have yet to win the title – Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings – will be up against each other in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. PBKS and RCB have been the top two teams through the league phases as well and were the first to book their Playoffs berth.
Rajat Patidar’s RCB stunned table-toppers PBKS in Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur to take the quicker route to the final. After a brilliant bowling show, RCB hammered Shreyas Iyer’s side by nine-wickets to reach the title clash while PBKS had to take the longer route.
Bollywood star Preity Zinta co-owned PBKS had to defeat a spirited Mumbai Indians side in Qualifier 2 to get a shot at their first final after 11 years. Both RCB and PBKS have been finalists in the past but have failed to clear the final hurdle, but that record will be corrected on Tuesday.
Both the finalists have some injury concerns with star RCB batter Tim David unlikely to be available for the final as well, after injuring his hamstring in the last league match. For PBKS, on the other hand, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal remains a doubtful starter due to a wrist injury which forced him to miss Qualifier 1.
If Chahal fails to get fit, then left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar will be taking up his place. Brar, who was bought for Rs 1.5 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year has claimed 10 wickets in 8 matches so far this season.
