Ranji Trophy, Delhi vs Andhra Pradesh: Delhi cricketer Gautam Gambhir got a fitting farewell as he walked out to represent his side for one last time in his illustrious career. It was a Ranji Elite Group B Round 5 match, where Delhi was hosting Andhra Pradesh. Gambhir showed that he still had it in him to get the runs, a habit that has kept him in good stead throughout his career. He scored a brilliant 92 off 154 balls and remained unbeaten to put Delhi in the driver’s seat at the end of Day 1. That was not it, a die-hard Gambhir fan breached the security and the fences at Feroz Shah Kotla to touch the feet of Gambhir. Apparently, the fan was hit by the police with a rod once he was caught.


Meanwhile, thanks to Ricky Bhui’s 187, Andhra posted 390 runs in their first innings.

On Day 2, Gambhir walked out to open the batting with Hiten Dalal, who stroked a brilliant 58. Gambhir and all his fans would be hoping he gets to a century and then carries on from there.

Gambhir recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket saying this will be the last match of his career. He last played for India in 2016. He is a two-time World Cup winner and has led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles in his cricketing career spanning 15 years.
